Vuurtongen / Tongues of Fire compares documentation of a company called Claessens Artists’ Canvas in Waregem (West Flanders) with interpretations of a Javanese batik pattern called ‘Tongues of Fire’. Vuurtongen was created during my residency at Be-Part, Platform for Contemporary Art in Waregem, with contributions by Mivalti day centre, Tielt (Belgium).
